The Kosovo War was an armed conflict in Kosovo that lasted from 28 February 1998 until 11 June 1999.  In 2008, the Republic of Kosovo declared itself an independent state. It has control over most of the territory and has partial international recognition. Serbia does not recognise the secession of Kosovo.
