The Statistical Abstract of the United States, published since 1878 by the U.S. Census Bureau, is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.

Sources of data include the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and many other Federal agencies and private organizations, all brought together by "content curators" in a well-organized and easily digested format.

Since its inception, the "Stat Abstract" as it is fondly known has been the go-to reference publication for students, teachers, the media, and researchers of all sorts, and is a must-have in every library's collection.  Use the Abstract as a convenient volume for statistical reference, and as a guide to sources of more information both in print and on the Web.
