The United States Code is the Code of Laws of the United States of America (also referred to as Code of Laws of the United States, United States Code, U.S. Code, or U.S.C.) and is a compilation and codification by subject matter of all the general and permanent Federal laws of the United States. It is a vital legal research tool. The U.S. Code does not include regulations issued by executive branch agencies, decisions of the Federal courts, treaties, or laws enacted by State or local governments. Regulations issued by executive branch agencies are available in the Code of Federal Regulations. Proposed and recently adopted regulations may be found in the Federal Register.

Containing 51 titles grouped by broad subject matter, the main edition of the United States Code is published every six years by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the House of Representatives, and cumulative supplements are published annually to provide the most up-to-date information. Annual compilations on CD-ROM are typically produced as well. The last main edition was published for 2006, and the current 2012 edition started shipping in 2013.
