Monitoring Stem Cell Research is a report of the Presiden'ts Council on Bioethics, which was created by President George W. Bush. The Council's purpose is to advise the President on bioethical issues related to advances in biomedical science and technology.
The report summarizes some of the more interesting and significant recent developments, both in the basic science and medical applications of stem cell research and in the related ethical, legal, and policy discussions. The Council seeks to shed light on where we are now ethically, legally, scientifically, and medically, so that the President, Congress, and the nation may be better informed as they consider where we should go in the future.
