This publication is one in a series of 40 illustrated brochures that describe the campaigns in which U.S. Army troops participated during the war. Each brochure describes the strategic setting, traces the operations of the major American units involved, and analyzes the impact of the campaign on future operations.
Describes the strategic setting (including Operation Torch) and the strategies and outcomes of this critical campaign, including the participation of various American regiments as part of the Allied forces. which consisted primarily of American, British Imperial Forces and the French Army. Discusses how the battle opened with initial success by the Italian and German forces, and the tactics used by the Allies to defeat and capture most of the Germans' Afrika Korps.
