What is the United States Code?
The United States Code is the Code of Laws of the United States of America (also referred to as Code of Laws of the United States, United States Code, U.S. Code, or U.S.C.) and is a compilation and codification by subject matter of all the general and permanent Federal laws of the United States. It is a vital legal research tool. Containing 51 titles grouped by broad subject matter, the main edition of the United States Code is published every six years by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the House of Representatives, and cumulative supplements are published annually to provide the most up-to-date information.
What does the U.S. Code not include?
The U.S. Code does not include regulations issued by executive branch agencies, decisions of the Federal courts, treaties, or laws enacted by State or local governments. Regulations issued by executive branch agencies are available in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs). Never miss a new CFR issue release by purchasing an annual print CFR subscription!
