The Strategic Studies Institute (SSI) is the U.S. Army's institute for geostrategic and national security research and analysis. The Strategic Studies Institute conducts strategic research and analysis to support the U.S. Army War College curricula, provides direct analysis for Army and Department of Defense leadership, and serves as a bridge to the wider strategic community.

The Strategic Studies Institute is composed of civilian research professors, uniformed military officers, and a professional support staff. All have extensive credentials and experience. SSI is divided into three components: 1) the Strategic Research and Analysis Department focuses on global, transregional, and functional issues, particularly those dealing with Army transformation; 2) the Regional Strategy Department focuses on regional strategic issues; and 3) the Academic Engagement Program creates and sustains partnerships with the global strategic community.

In addition to its own resources, SSI has a web of partnerships with strategic analysts around the world, including the foremost thinkers in the field of security and military strategy. In most years, about half of SSI's publications are written by these external partners.

“Slip” opinions are the first version of the Court’s opinions posted on this website. A “slip” opinion consists of the majority or principal opinion, any concurring or dissenting opinions written by the Justices, and a prefatory syllabus prepared by the Reporter’s Office that summarizes the decision. The most well-known opinions are those cases of the Court that have been announced and heard in oral argument. The Justice that authors the principal opinion summarizes the opinion from the bench during a regular scheduled session of the Court. (citation:  Supreme Court -Opinions of the Court)

In this official collection, you will find individual slip opinions issued within the US Supreme Court.  Some may include cases by individuals, corporations, state or municipal Government, and more.  You may also be intersted in the Supreme Court Reports that contain the final generation of a slip opinion.
